    I have recenlty replaced my 14 year old builder grade Lennox heat pump to a new 14/15 SEER Amana heat pump. The contractor installed a vairable speed airhandelr (AEPF313716A). The air handler performs well. When I took the measurements for an air-filter, I noticed that the filter rack is about 21X24 inch. But there is some insulation sticking-out in the back-side and thus the full 24 inches cannot be achieved. I took a shar box-cutter and cut the excess insulation at the back of the rack. This made my rack long enough to install a 20 X 24 filter. Though 20 X 24 was a standard size a few years ago, now it’s only available at a few stores. Usually home depot carries a pleated kind in this size. Lowes near my house told me that they can special order for me as long as I buy the whole box. IF you do not cut the excess insulation, you are stuck finding a customizable filter or buying a goodman brand filter from the dealter. I must say that the goodman made filter fits in the rack perfectly and you will not even need the flimzy cover for this rack.

    As far as the performance of the airhandler goes, it performs perfectly, very quiet compared to my old one and yes this thing can blow air. My duct work is poor, but I still get air in the rooms that I had trouble getting any before. I didn’t up size the system, my previous system was a 3 ton and the new one is the same nominal size as well. I hope this review helps.
