Goodman GMH Gas Furnace Specifications

Goodman GMH Series Furnaces are Convertible, two-stage, multi-poise furnaces with multi speed blowers. They also feature a patented aluminized steel-tubular heat exchanger, and have a durable Silicon Nitride Hot Surface Ignition system for reliable start up every time!

Multi Poise

The GMH Series of furnaces are a multi-position unit that can be installed in either of these configurations:

Vertical Poise - Upflow
Horizontal Flow - Left or Right

The GMH Series does not install in the downflow poise and if you need a downflow furnace, you need to look into the GCH series from Goodman.

Two Stage Gas Valve

The two stage gas valve allow the system to burn in high or low heat modes, based on the comparison of indoor and outdoor temperature, thus providing a high level of indoor comfort.

Multi-Speed Blower

Goodman is also very careful to address equipment purchased via the Internet and states on their website that Goodman itself will not warranty online purchases. Many dealers who sell Goodman online do however take the parts warranty responsibility onto themselves, and will issue their own matching parts warranty, as long as the equipment is installed by a qualified technician and the proper paperwork has been completed.

Cost of a Goodman GMH Furnace

Like all manufacturers, Goodman's pricing scale is a sliding scale, depending on the volume of equipment, purchased by the individual contractor. That noted, Goodman is the most affordable equipment on the market today, as compared to other brands.

Typically, the wholesale cost of this unit to a contractor is going to range between $600-$900. The cost is based off a scale of 5 pricing structures, depending on the contractor volume. For comparison value, a similar 2-Stage furnace from Carrier would be in the range of $1200-$1600, and the comparison unit would not qualify for the tax credit.

There are far too many factors to properly determine an installation range. A simple replacement however, where the existing furnace is removed and the new put in its place, with no significant modifications or upgrades to any other components of the HVAC system would likely range from $1200-$2000, bringing the total installed price somewhere in the $1800-$2900 range.

Choosing to Buy Online

If you do decide to buy your Goodman GMH series furnace online, pay very close attention to the warranty information above as well as making sure you discuss the parts warranty with the retailer. As long as you can retain the parts warranty from your retailer and have the unit installed by a qualified installer, you could save considerably!

Goodmans ARUF Air Handlers are the entry level air handlers for both Goodman and Amana products. These ARUF units are 3-Position air handlers, or Multi-Position as they call them, meaning they can be installed in an Upflow, Downflow, or either of the Horizontal positions (left or right), thus making them very flexible for many different users!
